Sardinian (sardu) is widely considered the most conservative Romance language, retaining many features closest to Vulgar Latin — including the preservation of /k/ before front vowels (kentu vs Italian cento). Spoken on the Italian island of Sardinia, it has 4 main dialect groups (Logudorese, Campidanese, Nuorese, Sassarese-Gallurese) and is recognized regionally.
