El inglés sudafricano (~5 M de hablantes nativos, ~30 M de hablantes en total) es una variedad no rótica y una de las 11 lenguas oficiales de Sudáfrica. Se caracteriza por la escisión de KIT ([ɪ] central vs. [i] anterior), vocales TRAP y DRESS elevadas y vocales largas muy monoptongales, junto con préstamos del afrikáans y de las lenguas bantúes.
