El inglés nigeriano (configuración regional en-NG) es una variedad nacional institucionalizada que se emplea en la sociedad sumamente multilingüe de Nigeria. El inglés es la lengua principal del gobierno federal, el poder legislativo, la educación superior, los medios nacionales y gran parte de la comunicación interétnica, aunque la Constitución no lo declara simplemente la única lengua oficial. Basado históricamente en el inglés británico, ha sido moldeado por el contacto con el hausa, el yoruba, el igbo y muchas otras lenguas, lo que genera una considerable variación regional y social. Entre las tendencias de pronunciación extendidas figuran la reducción de los contrastes de longitud vocálica, la monoptongación de algunos diptongos, la sustitución de /θ/ y /ð/, una menor reducción de las vocales átonas y un ritmo más uniforme; el vocabulario, la gramática y el discurso también contienen nigerianismos establecidos. Debe distinguirse del pidgin nigeriano, o Naijá, una lengua independiente de léxico inglés con gramática y funciones sociales propias.
