L'anglais sud-africain (~5 M de locuteurs natifs, ~30 M de locuteurs au total) est une variété non rhotique et l'une des 11 langues officielles d'Afrique du Sud. Il se caractérise par le clivage KIT ([ɪ] central vs [i] antérieur), des voyelles TRAP et DRESS relevées et des voyelles longues très monophtonguées, ainsi que par des emprunts à l'afrikaans et aux langues bantoues.
