Dolgan (ISO 639-3: dlg) is a threatened Northern Siberian Turkic language spoken by several thousand people on the Taymyr Peninsula and in neighboring parts of Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia. It is the northernmost Turkic language and is closely related to Sakha (Yakut), though it is recognized as a distinct language with both inherited and contact-induced innovations. Its principal regional varieties are commonly described as western, central, and eastern, associated with areas around Dudinka, Avam, and Khatanga. Dolgan is written in Cyrillic and shows extensive Evenki influence, especially in vocabulary and kinship terminology; increasing use of Russian has contributed to declining transmission.
