Hajong is an Eastern Indo-Aryan language of the Hajong people in the Garo Hills (Meghalaya, India) and adjacent Bangladesh. Lexically Indo-Aryan and closely allied to Bengali-Assamese, it shows heavy contact influence from neighbouring Tibeto-Burman Garo, and is unusual for an Indo-Aryan language in being written in both Bengali and Assamese alphabets by its speakers.
